Brody, a little Shih Tzu with the biggest spirit, came into my life in February 2020. He had been at another rescue, but his medical needs were more than they could handle. He had serious heart issues, and they knew he needed someone with experience to care for him.

From the moment I met him, Brody stole my heart. He arrived in terrible health his eyes eventually had to be removed, his teeth required extensive work, and he battled arthritis and more. But none of that defined him. Brody was the toughest dog ever known.

We lost him this year, in 2025, and the house feels different without him. Thanks to DNA testing, we knew he was nearly 17 years old, a miracle considering the rough life he had prior. Brody was originally found wondering the streets near Pigeon Forge, and yet he gave us more love, loyalty, and joy than words could even capture.

He wasn’t just a rescue dog he was family. We loved him beyond what black and white words can hold, and we always will.
